the junkie goes to rehab

Folks, I have gone and done it. I have changed the way I view the world, the way the world views me. I have altered the one thing that was a constant in my life. I have become a *drumroll please* brunette! Now, some of you might argue (especially since having the baby and having mammoth roots) that I have always been a brunette (Bianx), but truly, I have been a blonde.

Ever since my sweet sixteen party when I got the first taste of highlights, I was hooked, like a drug. "More", "lighter", "chunkier", "seamless color" I would yell at the salon......it is addictive. Like crack. Well, I have been a blonde for a lot of my life......some of my dearest friends only know me as barbie the blonde, even my HUSBAND does not even really know the brunette side ;) No more. The charade is over.

It wasn't all of this bravado the entire time though. I had been deliberating over this for a week. Stomach in knots, asking good friends their thoughts, really ran the gamut of emotion about this. I needed a change. I needed something that would propel me from the drudgery of new baby parenthood. Sleepless nights, breastfeeding, spit up, 3 minute showers, pumping...you know, the *glamorous* life.

I went in to my color specialist and said....make me a brunette. It was so liberating, so exciting, so.....naughty. He asked if I was sure and was not going through "hormonal" issues and I said "nope...give it to me". And voila...6 hrs later (color correction, blah blah blah) you have, Barbie The Brunette...

Michael will have fun with the new chick at the house. Thank God for the vasectomy ;)

I am editing the post to add that needed to prepare athena for the "unveiling"(we have all seen those makeover shows where the kid has a crying fit when they see their mother for the first time, and doesn't want to be held and the mother is holding in her tears b/c jr doesn't recognize her). in order to avoid unnecessary weirdness. Michael went in to get her and he said "momma's hair is different", "momma's hair is darker". I heard her repeat it and then she came into our room...and looked and said "momma's hair is black...negro". Then she said "get down, want juice". So it is safe to say that all is okay over here. Saylor (which was not forewarned....obviously) actually gave me a longer look and I swear, checked out the 'do.

love,
Bar-b (when I was still brunette)

oh, think twice, cause its another day in paradise

This what I find this morning when I peer over the side of our awesome Ikea crib that abu and mimi got sayer girl(what athena calls her)...yep a smiley, happy, ready for the world baby...again. Athena used to wake up like this too. I just can't resist this gummy smile though, gotta say. What she doesn't realize is that we are late for our walking date with cindiana jones and ll cool j (also known as Cindy and Juliana).

Athena loves to come in and say hello to saylor in the mornings....she races to get to her room and then to climb up onto her crib. She makes funny noises and starts cooing at her saying "good mornin' sayer girl", "howya doing", and my fav "ugh...spit mama, clean sayer". Too cute. Anyhow, Athena is in a moms day out program thrice a week. She loves it and I love it even more. They think she is the cat's meow at her little school and she loves following directions and telling other kids how to do things......first born anyone? My little scorpio is a social and happy thing. She knows everyones name in her class and other classes too. I walk in to pick her up and she says "yay...athena's mommy is here"...talking in third toddler. again, cute :)

So, I am off to work off the McPregnancy weight.

Well well well.....

It has finally happened.....I have joined everybodyandtheirmother.blogspot.com. I knew it was just a matter of time. Happened just like myspace. Sad really. I am following in the footsteps of good friends like Katy, Marianne, Chorak, Shannon, Gerry, and my cousin Andrea who was a blogger before blogging became the norm.

I feel like I needed a place to call our own and have the ability to ramble and rant as I so chose. The BAMS fam has lots going on these days. In texas again, moms groups, friends, margaritas, new job, pictures of growing girls, and just mundane things that all of you are dying to read about :) More importantly, share Athena and Saylor dailies with all of you. We have family and friends all over the world.....now you can add Spain (hola Lourdes) to our list. I am actually excited about this so strap in boys and girls b/c it is going to be a fun ride.

Bar-b (going with this sign off because it reminds me of grammar school, when I thought this would be a cool way to spell my name. I guess I should also share that I made my friends call me Bar-b LeBon for Simon LeBon in Duran Duran.) who is just the B in BAMS.
